Murder Husband speaks out after wife killed in East Mount Airy salon attack: 'She was everything' By Corey Davis Saturday, November 7, 2026 3:58AM The husband of the woman killed in a random attack at an East Mount Airy salon is talking about his ordeal. WPVI PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A 33-year-old man is facing murder, aggravated assault and other charges after police say he killed one woman and assaulted two others inside an East Mount Airy beauty salon. Jamal Pistoria was arrested early Friday morning after detectives located him on a SEPTA bus in Center City. Jamal Pistoria, 33, was taken into custody while on a SEPTA bus around 1 a.m. on Friday, according to police. Police accuse Pistoria of entering Abba Blessed Beauty Salon with a gun Monday and sexually and physically assaulting three female employees in a back room before fatally shooting 34-year-old Bellaniri Ofelia Hernandez Camilo. "There's no indication he knew anyone in that salon," Philadelphia Police Department Inspector Ernest Ransom said. Hernandez Camilo's husband, Frances Acosta Santos, spoke with Action News on Friday about the loss of his wife. A Univision reporter translated his responses into English. "She was a happy woman," Acosta Santos said. Acosta Santos said the couple moved from the Dominican Republic to the United States four years ago to build a better future for their two sons. He said his wife worked long hours at the salon with the goal of building a home for their boys. She was everything for me and my sons," he said. Police said a tip helped detectives locate Pistoria on the SEPTA bus. Ransom credited members of the public with assisting investigators. "From November 2nd to the time he was apprehended, the homicide unit, the top hotline received numerous calls from citizens in Philadelphia, and I think that's a testament to the citizens that they are tired of the crime as well," Ransom said. Acosta Santos said Pistoria's arrest brought a sense of relief to his family as they seek justice for Hernandez Camilo. "Right now I feel so good because the suspect is already arrested. I feel relief and my family as well. I need to be strong because we have to fight legally against the suspect," he said. Pistoria was still being processed Friday and faces charges of murder, aggravated assault and related offenses. Report a correction or typo Copyright © 2026 WPVI-TV. All Rights Reserved.
